Mission Statement
Utilizing our client-centered approach, we provide high quality conflict resolution services, including mediation, facilitation, training, coaching, and consulting, to individuals, families and organizations. We specialize in helping to resolve high conflict situations.
What is Conflict Resolution?
An effective way to resolve disputes, quickly and effectively outside of court. It is sometimes called “alternative dispute resolution”. There are various types of conflict resolution services, including mediation, arbitration, facilitation, conflict coaching, conflict management, and collaborative practice.
Why Use Conflict Resolution Services?
Conflict is an inevitable part of life. Conflicts can, however, be resolved successfully outside of the legal system. There are many different approaches that an individual, family or organization can take to avoid going to court and spending an exorbitant amount of money on legal fees. Unfortunately, many people believe that they do not “have a choice” but to seek out legal remedies when an intractable dispute arises.
Resolving disputes outside of court can help parties:
- Avoid paying costly legal fees
- Salvage and restore personal and professional relationships
- Quickly resolve all legal and financial issues
- Keep matters private
- Positively plan for the future of any type of relationship
- Create agreements that all parties will actually comply with
Our Philosophy
It is our belief that ALL conflicts can be resolved in a timely, inexpensive, and non-adversarial manner. We also believe in the power of conflict resolution education, as a means to effectively manage and prevent intractable disputes. It is our hope, that after utilizing our services, our clients will become better communicators and ultimately able to successfully resolve their own conflicts in the future.
Our Approach
We offer client-centered conflict resolution services, allowing the client’s needs and interests to be our guiding force. As mediators, facilitators, and coaches, we assist our clients by offering them the proper guidance and education to make informed decisions, consequently leading them towards a mutually satisfactory resolution to their concerns. Through our trainings and workshops, we endow our clients with the necessary skills to successfully identify and manage conflict in various contexts, with the hopes that they will avoid intractable disputes in the future. Finally, we believe in the importance of supporting self-represented clients involved in legal disputes. In doing so, we supply them with the necessary legal self help resources to settle their dispute on their own.
Mediation
Mediation is a non-adversarial way to resolve disputes. The ultimate goal of mediation is for the parties to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. During the process, mediators, who are professionally trained neutrals, help the parties communicate their ideas, and offer options which will minimize the possibility of future disputes. Mediators do not act as judges and thus, cannot render a verdict or decision in regards to your dispute. For more information about mediation, please click here
*Although some mediators are attorneys by profession, mediators are not permitted to offer legal advice to any party during mediation (California Dispute Resolution Council Standards of Practice). Mediators can, however, provide legal education and self help resources. If you are seeking legal advice/consultation in addition to mediation, please click here
Facilitation
When groups experience conflict, it is often appropriate to utilize facilitation in order to explore ideas and problem solve. A facilitator, a professionally trained neutral, assists the group in communicating more effectively, solving problems, and making decisions, without directly involving him/herself in the process. The facilitator can work with small groups within an organization, or with representatives from different organizations who are working together in a collaborative process.
Training
Conflict Resolution and Effective Communication Education is used as a tool for empowering individuals and organizations to manage conflict from a proactive rather than reactive standpoint. In addition to company trainings, we also offer workshops for the general public. Educating professionals in effective communication and problem solving skills can help lessen the risk for high conflict disputes in the workplace and with clients. More importantly, there is significant evidence which demonstrates that conflict resolution education is invaluable in the prevention of both employment and malpractice litigation. We specialize in providing trainings and workshops for professionals in direct service industries.
Coaching & Consulting
Certain disputes are more appropriately addressed with one on one coaching. Our professionals can work with individuals, providing advice, action planning, and support to address communication and conflict concerns. We also offer organizational consulting to address a variety of issues, including conflict management and developing and/or managing effective communication systems.
